EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

The primary goal of St. Mark's Nursery School is for all of the children to develop a sense of self-worth, self-confidence, independence and initiative. We recognize each child's uniqueness and encourage him or her to solve problems, experiment with materials and build healthy social relationships. In all curriculum areas, emphasis is placed on:

  • Developing a love of learning;
  • Stimulating awareness of surroundings;
  • Developing self-control and the ability to share;
  • Problem solving;
  • Following directions;
  • Strengthening fine and gross motor skills and eye-hand coordination;
  • Development of listening, language and cognitive skills; and
  • Stimulating curiosity, creativity and imagination.
Why a Co-Op?

A cooperative nursery school represents the joint effort of parents and educators to provide young children with the best possible experiences for wholesome growth and development.

Young children need a secure bridge between home and the world.  As a cooperative nursery school, St. Mark's provides a nurturing environment through parent participation in the classroom, as well as in the administration of the school.  Together, parents and teachers are working for the highest educational standards.
